Reminder: June 16th workshop on 2040 Transportation Plan for Lee County

Here's your chance to have input into the long range transportation plan for all of Lee County.  Plan to attend the Tues. June 16th workshop from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at North Fort Myers Library 2001 N. Tamiami Trail N.E., North Fort Myers, FL 33903.

The planned format for the meeting is as follows:

At 5:30 p.m. MPO staff will make a short presentation to provide some background of what the LRTP is, and the process taken to develop one, and will provide an overview of what the county is projected to look like  in 2040 in terms of population and employment.

Then the participants will circulate among  different stations that will focus on three questions:

1.  What are your preferences for general improvement to the transportation system? (e.g., add lanes, technology improvements, bike and ped facilities, safe roads through design, transit, etc.)  (you'll be asked to "vote" on your preferences).

2.  Where (geographically) would you like to see improvements made?  You get to draw on a map, and you can add your specifics suggestions on post-its.

3.  What would you like to see in transit? more routes (and where); more frequent service? or other service improvements?

So, come prepared with some ideas of what and where you'd like to see improvements in the county's transportation system.

The June 16th public workshop starts at 5:30 p.m. with a short overview presentation by staff, followed by an opportunity for citizens to visit various display boards and talk informally to staff about your ideas, concerns, questions, and provide your feedback. Here's your chance to share your ideas about future investments in transit, bike/ped facilities, specific road projects, etc. Hope to see you there! Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization to Host Workshop for 2040 Transportation Plan Update Lee County, Fla. – The Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) will be hosting a Public Workshop to gather the public’s ideas and suggestions on the 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan. The workshop will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the North Fort Myers Library, 2001 N. Tamiami Trail N.E., North Fort Myers, FL 33903. The Lee County 2040 Transportation Plan is the 25-year vision of how to meet our community’s transportation needs and expectations through 2040. The meeting will afford participants the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on how state and federal fiscal resources should be spent in future years for all modes of transportation.
