Photos from May 19th Ride of Silence

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Lee County Ride of Silence events. The Caloosa Riders led the ride in Fort Myers, with 75 participants, and the Sanibel Bicycle Club led a ride in Sanibel with 18 participants.

The Ride of Silence began 2003 in North America and rolled across the globe. Every year on the third Wednesday of May at 7 p.m., cyclists take to the roads in a silent procession (max. 12 MPH) to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways. Although cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists, the motoring public often isn't aware of these rights, and sometimes not aware of the cyclists themselves.
