Share your vision for Florida's Transportation Plan--more biking, walking and transit!

Share Your Vision for Florida's Transportation Plan
Take two minutes to let FDOT know that biking, walking, and transit facilities should be a high priority in their long range plan.  Thanks to 1000 Friends of Florida for reminding us of this important opportunity to weigh in.

Now is your chance to advocate for including and implementing multimodal options in the Florida Transportation Plan (FTP) and Strategic Intermodal System (SIS) Policy Plan. The blueprint for long-range transportation plan for the state over the next few decades, the FTP defines Florida's future transportation vision and identifies goals, objectives, and strategies to accomplish that vision. The Strategic Intermodal System Policy Plan identifies policies for the SIS, the statewide high-priority network of transportation facilities critical to Florida's economic competitiveness.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has developed five potential alternative futures for transportation in Florida:
  • Pre-recession trends continue
  • Florida as a global trade hub
  • Florida as an innovation hub
  • Return to focus on agricultural and rural lifestyle
  • Slow growth or no growth in the future
Click here to let state transportation officials know that the transportation plan for the state should include transit, rail, intermodal hubs, pedestrian facilities and paths and trails for people who choose to bike or walk rather than drive a car.
