BikeWalkLee is thrilled with today's announcement by Billy Hattaway of his appointment of a new FDOT District 1 Bicycle/Pedestrian Coordinator, Providance Nagy. We are looking forward to our partnership with Providance as we implement the Countywide Lee MPO Bicycle Pedestrian Master Plan, begin implementation of the soon-to-be approved MPO Bicycle Pedestrian Action Plan, and as we continue our partnership with FDOT on its Travel SafeLEE bike/ped safety campaign. Welcome to District 1 and to Lee County, Providance!

I am pleased
to announce Providance Nagy as the District One Bicycle/Pedestrian Coordinator
effective Friday, May 24, 2013. Providence is responsible for providing
technical assistance and training to FDOT and local agencies, reviewing plans,
and other related duties. Ms. Nagy previously served as the Program
Administrator for the FDOT School Crossing Guard Training Program. She was
commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps in 1995
through the NROTC Scholarship Program. She continues to serve in the
Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel. Her most recent deployment brought her to
Iraq in 2009.
Ms. Nagy has a
Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Tulane University. She attained her
Juris Doctor (Law) Degree and Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning at
the University of Florida. She is a certified County Mediator
and a member of the Florida Bar.
While not in
the office, Providance enjoys spending time with her family, visiting parks,
experiencing theater, cheering for Gator Gymnastics, taking especially long
walks and, of course, traveling.
Please join me
in congratulating Providance Nagy and welcoming her to District One.

Hattaway, District Secretary
