BikeWalkLee is planning a booth with several informative, exciting, innovative, and fun activities at the Nov. 10th Streets Alive! event. Plan to join in the community fun and be sure to visit us.
Have you heard the buzz about Streets Alive! in downtown
Fort Myers? Lee County's inaugural open streets event sponsored by the Healthy Lee Coalition
brings people to the River District for free family fun from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. on
Sunday, November 10th. Streets will be open for people to play and
closed to cars and other traffic. Activity
villages offer a buffet of choices, including hula hooping, meditative walks,
and healthy foods from local vendors, so you can discover ways to stay active
in our community. Dust off your bike,
walking shoes, or bus pass (or carpool with a friend) and join us for the fun
on Sunday, Nov. 10th!
BikeWalkLee will have a booth with
several informative, exciting, and innovative activities. You can learn about how
recent additions to the biking and walking facilities throughout the county,
along with new facilities planned with the recently awarded federal TIGER
grant, will help you enjoy outdoor activities in our community. You'll also hear about the Tice community and
their efforts to complete the streets in their neighborhoods. Join the community
conversation on making our neighborhoods more livable by sharing your thoughts
at our Road Words, Pop-Up City Hall, Origins Map, and Your Story Video Project.
Check out the details on these
activities here:
1. Road Words—Pick a few words to
describe your bicycling, pedestrian, or transit experiences from our pile of
key words. Then add your pic to our collage of people telling their stories to
make our Road Words Wall.
2.
Pop-Up City Hall -- We'll have a City Hall "wall" where you
can share your ideas what you want your streets to look like, what you can do
to make Lee County streets better, and
where you would like to be able to bike or walk. Add all your ideas for making
our community great for all forms of transportation here.
3. Origins Map –We want to know how you
get to Streets Alive! You can add a sticker to our map to show us. Simple.
Beautiful.
4.
Your Story Video Project – Ever want your concerns about Lee County
transportation to be heard? Want to highlight the great aspects of biking and
walking in your area? This is the project for you. Trained facilitators will be
at the BikeWalkLee booth to help you share your experience and ideas on film.
Want to share your story before the event? Post your thoughts, videos, and pictures on
Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or Instagram with #BWLStreetStories (we promise you
will be heard!).
So, plan to come to downtown Fort Myers on November 10th for the Streets Alive fun community event...and be sure to visit the BikeWalkLee booth and participate in our innovative and exciting activities.
