Popularity of Lee County visitors riding bikes while vacationing here up 50%
In reviewing the latest report by the Lee County Visitors and Convention Bureau (VCB) about tourism in 2012 vs. 2011, I came across this interesting table. Of the visitors surveyed, 18% reporting biking while here in 2012, up from 12% in 2011--a 50% increase! Notice that kayaking/canoeing is 8%, up from 7% the previous year. Clearly, biking is increasingly popular among our visitors, and we now have even more biking facilities for them to explore. (See BikeWalkLee's recent report.) BikeWalkLee thinks it's time for the VCB to promote Lee County's bikeways the way they promote the blueways. What do you think?
