MPO wants public to report traffic congestion

Every year the MPO asks for public input on areas that are congested and that can be improved with "quick fix" improvements...which includes improvements that make the roadways safer for pedestrians and cyclists.  Take a few minutes to share your suggestions with the MPO.  Thanks!

REPORT CONGESTED LOCATIONS

The Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) needs your help in identifying congested roadways for which it may be able to identify “quick fix” improvements such as retiming traffic signals, restriping travel lanes etc. More expensive strategies like countywide signal timing update, intersection improvements, ITS deployments may be addressed through the MPO priority process, and implemented with federal funds sub allocated to the MPO.  If you are aware of any congested locations, please fill out an interactive form online by April 13th

Public input through these annual surveys since 1998 has been responsible for funding tens of million dollars’ worth of traffic operations improvements in Lee County that have addressed both congestion and safety, and have benefited motorists, vulnerable road users (bicyclists/pedestrians/motorcyclists), and public transit.

Note that there are specific questions for pedestrians and cyclists.  It's your opportunity to tell the MPO that you bike or walk to work or school; to identify intersections that lack marked crosswalks and pedestrian push button signals; and to identify locations where the sidewalks are too narrow.

Click here to fill out the form.  Thanks for participating!
