Cape City Council approves bike/ped resolution

Last night (Oct. 1st) the Cape Coral City Council unanimously approved the bike/ped resolution.  We are very appreciative of the Council's strong support.  Thanks to the new group, Cape Coral Bike Ped, for their hard work!  They're off to a great start...and even got applause from the Council last night.

BikeWalkLee is delighted to support a newly formed group of Cape Coral advocates for pedestrian and bicycle path development, called Cape Coral Bike-Ped.  The group's mission is to "develop a system of interconnecting bike and pedestrian routes throughout Cape Coral for everyone to enjoy”.

Cape Coral Bike-Ped has been working with city staff on a resolution to establish a fundraising tool and a dedicated account for pedestrian and bicycle paths within the City.  At the Cape Coral Council meeting on October 1, 2012, the Council unanimously approved resolution (Resolution 40-12).

As Carolyn Conant of Cape Coral Bike Ped stated after adoption of the resolution, "We hope that the community steps up and supports our efforts through their donations and sponsorship of signs or events.  It is going to take everyone really joining together volunteering and contributing  so we can effectively  identify, mark and improve the routes in Cape Coral."
